Visit the Belgian coast by historical coastal tram and go back in time, all the way to the Belle Epoque (1870 – 1914). This was a time when Europe’s middle class prospered and tourism became increasingly important. Several of the grandest buildings in the coastal towns of Blankenberge and De Haan have been restored and now offer a glimpse into that carefree and festive Belle Epoque era. This excursion can be either a morning or an afternoon programme, and we can optionally add a transfer, extended visit, lunch or dinner. You will be able to immerse yourself in the life of this world-famous surrealist painter (1897 – 1994). Not only do they show the largest collection anywhere of his work, but you’ll find many of his personal belongings as well. Delvaux admired women, trains and railway stations and the museum shows many of his model trains and artefacts. In Ostend we’ll visit the James Ensor house (1860 – 1949), where we’ll find an evocative exhibit of this major innovator of modern art in Belgium. About the Tour by historical 2CV car through the Lys area Departure/end: Castle of Ooidonk (Sint Martens-Leerne/Deinze). Concept Teams of 4 people will drive a 2CV car through the idyllic landscape of the Lys region. We follow a track along peaceful roads and touristic attractions including nice, funny stops and light teambuilding challenges. We start or end our day having lunch or dinner (if you choose to start with a lunch, no alcoholic drinks will be served). This activity is for all ages, motivates and is team-oriented, is weather dependent and guarantees fun and lots of unforgettable moments. During a funny search in “de kuip”, the inner city of Ghent, small teams learn in a playful way a lot about Ghent’s architecture and history. Welcome by our guide and assistant(s) in a typical restaurant with a cup of coffee and a croissant. Briefing of the concept: the group will be split up in teams of about 4 – 6 people and will explore Ghent armed with a road book and a map. Two teams will leave at the same moment, but in opposite directions. Other teams will follow (some) minutes later, avoiding thus that teams have to wait at the checkpoints where agility and general knowledge are added to the test. As they pass the most idyllic spots, participants should not forget to consult their road book. We gather the teams on a central location where old Flemish folkloristic games such as Pudebak, Struifvogel, Toptafel,…are waiting for them. During these games an aperitif will be served.
