Milk fever is a complex metabolic disease in cows that usually occurs around calving and most commonly in high-yielding dairy cows from three years and older. The average cost, including medicines, veterinary services, and estimated production loss, amounts up to 334 USD per case (or 0,01 Bitcoin at the time of writing, but that has probably already changed by now). Calcitop bolus is an easy solution to prevent all this from happening. And to give the cows and farmer an even better protection we have created an improved formula.

When rearing calves, farmers strive for regular growth of their animals. This can only be achieved when the calves get enough food and when farmers ensure that the animals remain healthy. A common, yet underexposed, problem to the calves’ health is coccidiosis (also named eimeriosis). A 2011 study in Austria showed that only 45% of the farmers were familiar with the term “coccidia”. So, what is this? What is coccidiosis in calves? Coccidiosis is an important parasitic disease of vertebrate animals (including calves and adult cattle) and is a common cause of scours. The infection is mainly seen in calves from 3 weeks up to approximately 1 year of age and is highly prevalent on cattle farms. This high prevalence causes a big financial impact to farms due to reduced growth or even death of calves.

Our mastitis bolus Mammitop Small is a slow-release sheep supplement that is developed to prevent the development of clinical mastitis after lambing or in situations with increasing cell count. It has a slow release of 21 days. A trial was conducted at the University of Leon in Spain. 52 sheep received a Mammitop Small bolus and 53 sheep were in the control group. The trial looked at the evolution of milk production, cheese production, somatic cell count, and urea in milk.
