The key strength of SPAQuE is its ability to handle the entire site rehabilitation process. The process is as follows : historical review (specialists in historical investigation and in the history of industrial processes retrace the history of an industrial site), soil investigations (exploration, characterisation, volumetric analysis), economic, technical and town planning feasibility studies (in relation to the reallocation project), analysis of existing risks, rehabilitation and construction works (site clearing and clean-up, clean-up of remaining buildings and selective deconstruction, sorting of deconstruction materials, removal to recycling facility or on-site crushing, excavation of polluted soil, geotechnical security, deconstruction of remaining foundations, on-site treatment of contaminated soil and/or removal to an authorised treatment facility, groundwater treatment, backfill with healthy soil), analysis of residual risks, water management (where applicable).

Afin de prendre en charge une pollution des sols en benzène, SPAQUE intervient sur le site "Bois Saint-Jean" à Seraing. Cette contamination a été mise en évidence grâce aux contrôles réguliers effectués par SPAQUE sur ce site de près de 150 hectares. Ce mois de décembre, SPAQUE entame le chantier de prise en charge d’une tache de pollution en benzène sur le site "Bois Saint-Jean" à Seraing. Plusieurs chantiers de réhabilitation ont déjà eu lieu sur ce site, de 2002 à 2005, afin de le rendre compatible avec le projet d’aménagement en zone d’activité économique, le Liege Science Park, développé par la SPI. Plusieurs entreprises (EVS, WSL Labs, etc.) ont d’ailleurs déjà étendu leurs activités sur une partie du terrain valorisé. Depuis ces travaux, des prélèvements d’eau souterraine ont été régulièrement réalisés par l’équipe de surveillance environnementale de SPAQUE afin de mesurer l’impact que cet ancien crassier sidérurgique pouvait encore avoir sur la nappe phréatique.
