    Dairy Gligora Ltd. has a long tradition of cheese production that pulls from way back in 1918 when Frane Gligora began independently producing Pag cheese, and passed on a love of sheep and cheese on younger generations maintaining the centuries-old tradition. The company had a lot of progress over the years, and their Pag cheese in Italy 2002 won the first major international award for Croatian cheese which Gligora brand became synonymous with the best cheese. Today the company produces over 450 tons of various cheeses per year, and the Dairy Gligora is almost every year the winner of top international awards for cheese. Shops Gligor found throughout Croatia, and next to the dairy in Kolan on Pag. In them you can find the full range of our products and other quality products that go with the cheese. Part of our products are in the most major, and smaller retail chains in Croatia and Slovenia, and in some reputable supermarkets in Bosnia and Serbia. In other countries in the world, some of our products are at specialized vendors for quality cheeses.     The Gligora Dairy history is related to the life and work of its founder and owner Ivan Gligora and his family. Looking for more challenges, Ivan left the Island of Pag for the City of Zadar where he transferred to the pure dairy cultures department of Zagreb Creamery. Ivan worked here for the next 20 years, during which time his knowledge, skills and insight were rewarded with promotion to Head of Production, with a growing reputation, Ivan became one of Croatia’s most respected dairy technologists. In 2010, Ivan put the crown on his many years of work in the construction of a new and modern equipped Dairy in Kolan. In a very short time, he managed to meet the rigorous conditions for the tender and refund from EU funds.Today, the new Gligora Dairy employs 27 people and produces more than 50 tones of Paški Sir in a year, as well as over 150 tones of other cheese products. Gligora buys milk from over 200 of the islands shepherds.

    Zdenka is a company with a long tradition in the cheese production. It was founded in 1897, in Veliki Zdenci – an agricultural and stockbreeding area with expressed milk production. Rich pastures were ideal conditions for milk production. The Dairy plant changed its name into Zdenka, after the ex owners’ daughter Zdenka. In 1945, after the World War II the company was nationalized and became the state property, as all other private factories in the country. An extremely intensive development began in 1970 when new buildings for a production of processed cheese and whey powder have been built. The factory was state-owned until 2008. Nowadays, 112 years after its establishment, Zdenka is privately owned and a respectable, specialized dairy plant for production of dairy products. It is a market leader and a synonym of processed cheese, with more than 70 % share in the segment of processed cheese at the Croatian market. Cheese is branded with the quality of Croatia.
