Utilities personnel working on Gas Insulated Switchgear are in danger from exposure to SF6 gas leaks. Colourless and odourless, SF6 can accumulate undetected, presenting serious health and environmental risk. The EMT GasSafe Gas Leak Detection System offers a feature packed solution to monitoring real time gas leaks from electrical equipment or potential other unsafe gaseous emissions. Our gas safety system provides rapid detection, immediate response and early warning in the event of gas leaks or an unsafe working environment, ensuring personnel safety and asset protection. Ideal for traditional SF6 and new SF6 alternative gas installations. Provides an intelligent and comprehensive solution to your SF6 F-Gas leak detection requirements. Measurement of over 400 different gases and vapours from ppm to %Vol. Easily add or remove sensors and accessories as your system needs grow with up to 128 detectors on a single control panel.

Exhaled Breath = 78.04% Nitrogen + 13.6%-16% Oxygen = CO2 Car Exhaust = Carbon Dioxide + Carbon Monoxide + Sulphur Dioxide + Nitrogen Oxides + Hydrocarbons How do we know this? Gas detection in Continuous Emission Systems (CEMS), combustion analysers and environmental monitoring are key to ensuring that the world we live in is monitored for its pollution and environments we work in are safe to do so as gases can be detrimental to life. Knight Optical provide a number of optical components that are used in Gas Detection Systems. We can also provide interference bandpass filters that work within the IR, front surface mirrors, gas cells and singlet lenses and window made from Germanium (Ge), Calcium Fluoride (CaF2), Silicon (Si), Quartz/ Fused Silica, Magnesium Fluoride (MgF2) and Sapphire (Al2O3). In order to ensure that castings, valves, pumps, hoses and other components or groups have been manufactured free of leakage, they are tested in non-destructive leakage tests. Oxygen, air, nitrogen or sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) can be used as the test medium.

With the development of CHARM®, Open Grid Europe is providing an efficient leakage control method for natural gas pipeline networks and thus an alternative to the labour intensive practice of conducting on-site inspections of the pipelines with gas detection devices. CHARM® is a highly accurate infrared laser system integrated in a helicopter that is capable of precisely detecting even very low methane concentrations from the air. Even in the case of very complex pipeline topologies, the course of the pipeline can be detected consistently on a large scale during the flight by an automatic, highly precise scanning beam control system (autotracking), thus ensuring a reliable leak tightness inspection of the natural gas pipeline.
