Brief Description The PWL compact unit MODULAR is a multifunction unit combining waste water sieving with the discharge of grit and grease in one compact system. Due to its modular design the PWL compact unit can be equipped appropriate to individual waste water conditions. Among all kinds of screens the MODULAR can be used with drum screens within the inlet area. The different kinds of solids are separately carried out of the unit for further treatment or discharged into a container. Function Via pumps or gravity flow the waste water reaches the headbox of the MODULAR. The screen integrated into the headbox discharges the separable solids from there either to the downstream PWL Interval-Wash-Compactor or into a container. The waste water charged with organic and sand runs off directly from the headbox into the aerated grit chamber. The free fats and lightweight substances reach due to the prevailing roller stream the integrated grease trap. The arising floating layer is...

Application An efficient and reliable fine sieving is essential not only for a comprehensive water recycling but for completely closed water circulations. For these applications, the Drum Filter MDF with mesh sizes between 25 and 2000 µm is the best choice. This filter offers a high capture rate at low operational costs during continuous operation. The choice between different cleaning media is part of the adjustment to the individual site conditions. In addition, different discharge devices and the level controlled drum rotation have to be considered. Function The Drum Filter MDF is a unit made of stainless steel, designed for liquid/solid separation within the field of process and waste water of various industries. From the Drum Filter’s inlet connection the waste water runs off into the filter drum consisting of a steel construction which is covered with a stainless steel wire gauze. The solids settle at the gauze and are transported upwards by the rotating filter drum. The...

Application Increasing fees for sewage water make high demands on in-plant sewage treatment plants. The internally fed sieve drum CenterFlow is a product to face manifold problems, designed for liquid/solid separation in the field of process and waste water of industries or WWTPs. Function The rugged sieve drum is the core of the CenterFlow. Here, the particles are retained and carefully dewatered for further discharge. Within the inlet chamber the flowing-in medium is homogenized and the flow velocity reduced. The tangentially approached sieve surface serves to efficient fine sieving even of high hydraulic loads. Due to the drum configuration the main task can either be a fast solids discharge or a slower passage through the drum if the retained solids are to be, in addition, washed or properly dewatered. With a constant rotational speed and a low drive power this sieve drum machine is a reliable component within the equipment of a plant. The high availability and the large...

The externally fed TanFlow Drum Screen is characterized by its rugged and simple design, as well as by its small footprint allowing for installations with limited space. The TanFlow is employed where it is necessary to separate larger flows of liquid from solids – irrespective of industrial or municipal applications. Even oily and greasy media can be separated. Function The process or waste water reaches the sieve drum surface via the headbox. First, the liquid runs from the outside of the drum into the inside. Thus, the solids which are larger than the chosen wedgewire opening settle on the surface. Due to the continuous drum rotation they are transported to the scraper where a gentle separation of the solids is effected. The cleaned liquid flows after the separation process once again through the drum, this time from the inside to the outside (backwash) where it finally leaves the machine through an outlet pipe. Installation Examples municipal WWTPs wood...

The principle of the Lamella Turbine The Lamella Turbine belongs to the family of the Understhot Water Wheels. This means that the water, accelerated by an elevation difference, is retarded by the Lamella Turbine. By this, kinetic energy is utilized. Substituting the shovels of conventional water wheels, individually shaped lamellas or bundles of lamellas are stably situated circumferential, so that the force of the individual water flow brought by the river can be highly efficiently processed and transformed into rotation. The applied bundles of lamellas are optimized for the particular water flow conditions. By this it can be obtained that the water can be held at the circumference of the turbine, where the “brake force” develops the maximum torque, which is transmitted to the generator. The “little difference” between conventional technologies and the Lamella Turbine The Lamella Turbine does not have closed chambers like conventional water wheels. Thus, the water inflow is...

Application Standard grit trap contents have an organic proportion of 50 to 80 %. Conventional sand washers are able to dewater the grit trap settlings only partially. But, the high organic content and the lack of dry substance bring on unpleasant odour, high weight and, as a consequence, high costs for disposal. With the PWL Sand Washer the organics in the grit trap can be nearly completely washed out. This results into a reduction of mass of up to 80 % and might cause cost savings of up to 90 % when being disposed on a construction waste landfill. This procedure can be applied in industry, as well, to separate valuable materials from waste. Due to the separate discharge of the various fractions they can be further treated, recycled or disposed. Thus, valuable materials can be returned to the production process and waste material be disposed at low costs and correctly sorted. Function The PWL Sand Washer is fed with a sand-water-mixture. The settled sediment mixture is conveyed...

Application An extensive reduction of the screenings volume by returning organic ingredients into the clarification process offers besides important cost saving with regard to screenings disposal advantages for the process stability of nitrification/ denitrification necessary in nearly all clarification plants. The company ABZ in Austria implemented decades of experience in the field of screenings treatment on the screenings washers. Many references attest the leading position of this technology by which the screenings weight can be reduced on average by 75 %. Special attention has been turned to the development of least possible wear and utmost operational safety. The Interval-Wash-Compactor can be operated with service water from the sand trap area. Peak loads of screenings due to storm water events are handled without problem, as well. Function The screenings are discharged directly or via a conveyor from the screen into the infeed hopper of the washer. After a pre-compaction...

Brief Description The PWL ProCat chain driven rake screen UR can be equipped and used as a wedgewire or perforated plate screen. This rake screen combines the advantages of the rugged and durable continuous belt screen with the hydraulic capacity of a screen with one active screening area only – such as step screens or spiral sieves. The PWL ProCat Rake Screen UR having an inclined screen offers a maximum flow cross section. The vertical screenings removal from the channel is very space-saving and highly efficient although it works without use of service water. For constructional reasons it is impossible that the screenings are carried off downstream. Function The waste water flows through the wedgewire screen made of flow-enhanced stainless steel triangular profiles. The screenings are retained, directly picked up at the channel bottom by rugged scraper blades and transported to the discharge area where they are scraped off resp. discharged. Wedgewire: 1 to 60 mm Perforation: 3...
