Gland seal systems very important to main and auxiliary turbines. Turbine shafts must exit their casings in order to couple up or connect with the unit that the turbines drive (reduction gears, pumps, etc.) The main and auxiliary gland seal systems enable the turbine to be sealed where the shaft exits the casing; in effect keeping "air out and steam in." The purpose of gland seal system is to prevent the leakage of air from the atmosphere into turbine casings and prevent the escape of steam from turbine casings into the atmosphere. The gland sealing system provides low pressure steam to the turbine gland in the final sets of labyrinth packing. This assists the labyrinth packing in sealing the turbine to prevent the entrance of air into the turbine, which would reduce or destroy the vacuum in the associated condenser. Excess pressure (excess gland seal) is removed by the gland seal unloader. Since there are times when steam escapes from the seals, a gland exhaust system is provided.

The Star 56 range of bag sealers consists of a power pack and a set of sealing jaws designed for heat sealing products in situ or for a bag sealer to be incorporated into a parent machine. The range of sealing heads is ideal for uses such as sealing valve sacks, foil or plastic machinery covers and sealing straps onto bulk bags. We also produce a range for sealing dangerous/ toxic products where the seal incorporates a cut so no product can escape. Seal cycle initiation can be via foot switch, push button or automatic (when the jaws are closed). The power pack is connected to the jaws by a lead, allowing the jaws to be used in awkward positions. Adjustable weld and cool timers control the sealing cycle, allowing them to be used on most materials. The indicator lights on the power pack or sealing jaws advise the operator when the weld and cool cycle are complete. Special sealing heads producing shaped welds can be made for almost any application.

The Star Gantry Sealer produces long, straight welds and is available in both free-standing and bench-mounted formats. The machine frame is constructed from an anodised aluminium profile, maximising rigidity whilst minimising weight. The gantry sealer is available with either one or both jaws heated allowing a wide range of packing materials to be sealed including foil, paper, biodegradable materials, laminates and most modern plastics. Pneumatically operated automatic jaws allow operators to prepare for the next product during the sealing cycle maximising machine throughput. The Round Lead Seal is designed with two parallel holes and a knot chamber. During fitting the wire or string is threaded through the two parallel holes and crossed inside the knot chamber before closing with the sealing tool to prevent slippage. The LS31F Seal Cross-hole Lead Seal is designed so that the lashed wire is crimped together when the seal is compressed with the sealing tool. The effect of crimping the lashed wire together alleviates any chance of twisting the wire out of the hole without leaving clear evidence of tampering. The Acme T Seal is a fixed length metal seal manufactured in Tin plated steel. The design features a unique double locking action and inspection holes in the lock box which enable the user and security personnel to view the tips of the "T" mechanism within the lock box ensuring the seal has been correctly locked and has not been pre-tampered. This seal cannot be disengaged by intrusion or manipulation, nor can it be dismantled or cut without leaving obvious traces. It can be manufactured in operating lengths of between 10cm to 95cm and is suitable for use in temperatures of -60ºC to 320ºC (-76ºF to 608ºF).
