On the consumer side, all 60 Hz power systems I know of use 110V supplies which means to deliver the same power, you require heavier cables again because of double the current carrying capacity. So what you gain in the 60Hz frequency, you lose on the current and heat losses. I don't know what the main transmission line voltages are on the 60Hz systems. There are gains on the motor speeds as well, but with smart controllers, you can control the speed even higher with higher frequency supply using solid state frequency converter. I wonder if there have any studies on the effects on people or animals with the different frequencies from the EM fields from the transmission lines.
