GELCO is located in Barranquilla, Colombia, South America. It has representatives in Egypt, Spain, United States, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Dominican Republic and Turkey. GELCO was founded in 1966 to manufacture and sell edible, and pharmaceutical gelatin. The plant and technological processes were supervised by Atlantic Gelatin, a General Foods division that managed the plant during the first five years. Gelco has a continuous extraction process, with a production capacity of 4, 800 MT/year. The raw material is of bovine origin. Duly certified, it is free of B.S.E., which means it can be exported throughout the world. In 2008, Gelco bought Kraft’s gelatin plant located in Pedreira, Brazil, which started its operation as GELCO GELATINAS DO BRASIL LTDA. on April 2009. Our plans with this new plant are to optimize processes and equipment, in order to achieve the same levels of efficiency and quality of our plant in Barranquilla. Our mission at GELCO is to manufacture pharmaceutical and edible gelatin of the best quality, according to measures for strict security and hygiene to guarantee total satisfaction of our customers' needs and expectations.
