Unwanted hair, be gone! Knight Optical offer a range of Stock Dichroic Filters, for use within IPL Applications. Intense Pulsed Light filters are essential to IPL applicators as they are used to filter out the UV wavelength range; and transmit between 400-1200nm for use within cosmetic lasers that are designed to remove unwanted hair, vascular treatment and even acne treatment. These IPL Filters are often stacked between sapphire windows within the IPL applicator to offer a more defined wavelength spectrum when in use. Dichroic filters consist of thin film dielectric coatings on glass, and are designed to offer high transmission over a specific wavelength while reflecting all other wavelengths, having negligible absorption. The dielectric coating is perfect for high power applications, and does not show the strong fluorescence of certain glass filters. We hold a massive inventory of Bandpass, Long pass, Short pass, Band-blocking and Colour-correction filters.

New for 2019, Knight Optical’s newly expanded collection of Moulded Optics now further meet the demands of the most complex, high-specification projects. Drawing on our 28 years’ experience and passion for producing premium-quality components, we now provide an even greater component offering within our Moulded Optics range. From Quartz Tubes and Aspheric Lenses to sought-after Germanium Windows and Fresnel Lenses, our optics are specified for a diverse variety of applications – such as magnification and light diffusion. One of the most popular uses for Moulded Optics is light sensor devices. Connected to floodlight circuits and used to detect movement within their radar, these devices are commonplace within the defence industry and for home and workplace security usage. Their operation lies within their ability to identify infrared (IR) wavelengths emitted from objects within their field of view. Read PDF for more information….

Knight Optical can supply you with a custom made Diamond turned aspheric lenses for use within Thermal Imaging Cameras. We supply a range of diamond turned aspherics for a range of applications. All individually QA checked and metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customer specification. Supplied in a range of sizes and shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications. Thermal Imaging Cameras work similarly to traditional visible camera systems; while traditional cameras form images using visible light; thermal cameras form images using infrared radiation; operating in wavelengths as long as 14µm. Spherical aberration occurs in common singlet lenses, which results in an image that appears distorted, aspheric lenses correct spherical aberration. An aspheric lens surface is designed non-spherical, which allows a single component lens to collimate or focus highly divergent rays, Read PDF for more information…

CMOS sensors are used within commercial grade Digital SLR cameras as a replacement for the more expensive CCD. These CMOS sensors are extremely sensitive to IR light, which can lead to discolouration. IR cut filters are used to block the IR light, meaning that photographs are taken with life-like colours. Colour Glass Filters can be used in variations of Bandpass, Long pass and Short pass, depending on which wavelengths of light need to be blocked resulting in different key areas being more easily distinguished. Knight Optical offers Colour Glass and IR cut filters for such an application, with a wide range of band widths and cut on/off wavelengths. As above these are available as Bandpass, Long pass or Short pass filters and we can also offer customised filters with coatings specific to the wavelength of your choice. We hold a massive inventory of IR cut, Bandpass, Long Pass and Short Pass filters: Read PDF for more info….

Knight Optical can offer you Stock and Custom Colour Glass Filters, for use within Inline Cameras in a range of materials of brands such as Schott, Kopp and CDGM. Depending on the achievable wavelength and desired affect you need for the Inline Camera we can find a suitable material for your application. Colour Glass Filters are good for selecting a particular wavelength to be absorbed so that the high out of band blocking in achieved. With regards to the use in Inline Cameras, Colour Glass Short pass Filters are more desirable as they cut out the IR wavelengths mean the imaging is not saturated with the IR giving the image better clarity. Colour Glass Filters are polished sheets of special glass that have been cast with a dye. Colour Glass Filters generally are relatively cheap and very stable. The disadvantage with them is that they are only available in a relatively small number of variants, and so can be restrictive in shortwave selection. Read PDF for more Information….

Knight Optical can offer Barium Fluoride Windows for use within Medical Imaging. We supply a range of barium fluoride windows for a range of applications. All individually QA checked and metrology tested for quality to ensure parts meet customer specification. Supplied in a range of sizes and shapes with custom coatings tailored to meet your individual applications. Knight Optical supply precision optical components to customers in the medical industry for applications such as medical thermology and thermography. Barium fluoride optics are used in the detection and screening of breast cancer and for screening for atypical pneumonia (SARS) and monitoring respiratory conditions. Due to barium fluoride’s high radiation resistance, it is ideal for use in high radiation (x-ray/gamma rays) environments. Other applications include cryogenically cooled thermal imaging systems, infrared spectroscopy and high energy neutron detection. Read PDF for more information…

Knight Optical offer a range of Stock Ball Lenses and Half Ball Lenses, for use within Fibre Optics, Signal Coupling and Barcode Scanners. As the name suggests ball lenses are spherical lenses mostly made out of High Refractive Index Glass such as Sapphire, and LASFN-9 Glass. The reason ball lenses are most commonly used is for their ability to couple light in and out of fibres. The key feature of ball lenses is their short back focal length allowing for precision coupling where size or space is a limiting factor in the system. Ball lenses are typically used in pairs with one lens acting as a collimator for the second to focus the light back into the coupled fibre. Where a more compact solution is required a half-ball lens is typically more suitable. We hold a large inventory of Ball Lenses. •Stock sizes from 0.5 5mm to 10mm diameter. •Custom sizes available to quotation. •Half Ball lenses also available. For more information read PDF….
