AK Steel International is a subsidiary of Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. which is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A. Several subsidiaries of AK Steel International operate in Europe. Offices are located in the Netherlands, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Spain and Italy. The American Rolling Mill Company (ARMCO) was founded in 1899 in Middletown, Ohio, where it operated a production facility. In more than 100 years of history it expanded enormously and amongst others, it established several European subsidiaries. These subsidiaries decided in 1986 to to jointly operate under the name ARMCO Specialty Steels Europe. In 1999, the parent company of these subsidiaries, ARMCO Inc. merged with AK Steel Corp., Middletown, Ohio. Through this merger the company name ARMCO was changed to AK Steel. In April 2000, also the ARMCO subsidiaries in Europe were renamed into AK Steel. To be more in line with the global sales activities, it was renamed in 2004 to AK Steel International.

From best practice – for best practice | Michael Schönwolf is the founder of the company opened in 2004. The namesake of our company has more than 30 years of experience in the fields of safety technology and maritime transport. After completing his training as a mechanic, he initially spent four years working for the German Federal Navy, followed by more than ten years as a professional diver, among other things, before he was forced to give up this occupation for health reasons. He decided to train as an industrial management assistant and spent the next 20 years or so looking after the customers of Dräger-Werke Lübeck in all areas of safety technology. Schönwolf-Hamburg by 7 Solutions GmbH is now a well-established company and belongs to the 7 Solutions Group with an international client base. Michael Schönwolf still works at the company and is supported by a team with expert knowledge of customer care and service.
