A drive motor can also act as a generator. If the drive system is built so as to allow reverse power to flow then this power can be fed into a resistor, thus taking energy out of the system and causing whatever is driving the motor to slow down. Following to this the braking resistor converts the stop energy into heat. Electrical drive systems are being used more and more on ships, oil rigs, crane barges and offshore vessels of all types. An important benefit from using an electric drive is that reliable systems of regenerative and dynamic braking resistors are available to complement or replace traditional mechanical braking systems. The advantages of electric braking include control, reliability, mechanical simplicity, weight saving and in some cases the opportunity to make use of the regenerated braking energy. The braking fluid thermocouple from Therma convinces not only with its compact construction but also with its simple installation. Just screw it in in-place of the air vent screw to measure the temperature of the brake fluid. The subsequent sheathing line can then be comfortably bent in the required direction. When the thermocouple is screwed in, the braking system is then vented through its thread. The temperature measurement of the brake fluid, along with the brake disc surface measurement, also supplies important control values for a successful and safe race. During long races or races with many downhill routes, the brake disc overheats over-proportionally. The accruing radiation heat during this has a direct effect on the brake fluid, respectively heats it up. Depending on the type of brake fluid being used, it already reaches its boiling point at approx. 140–260 °C.

Stock conveyors can be produced as radial type according to the location of the facility, land conditions and customer demand. The Belt Conveyor chassis is connected to the ground from the tail module with a fixed joint. High-strength steel construction feet made to support the weight of the intermediate modules and the drive module are attached to the axle located on the wheels. These wheels are preferred as filled wheels in order to be loose-proof. The gearbox is driven by a coupled motor. It is equipped with a special brake system to prevent movement due to environmental effects during operation or stopping. The center of rotation is the fixed hinge point in the tail module. It is provided to turn clockwise and counterclockwise by the angle allowed. In this way, the stock amount is much more than a fixed stock belt conveyor.

The infrared temperature sensor from Therma is perfect for measuring the current tyre temperature. The temperature of the tyre and thus the associated effects are decisive factors for success in motor sports. The tyre pressure is strongly temperature-dependent. The measurements collected by the sensor permit conclusions to be drawn for ideal vehicle tuning. Large fluctuations have a direct effect on the vehicle performance and the service life of the tyre.

With the Therma friction thermocouple you can determine the surface temperature of the brakes while driving. Attaching the mounting adapter puts uniform pressure on the brake disc through the spring-loaded sensor by using a bayonet cap. That perfectly compensates movements caused by centrifugal force and vibrations as well as the volume decrease caused by disc wear while ensuring a valid measurement. The brake disc friction sensor measures the surface temperature of the brake disc. It imparts important insights about the temperature development. That enables an indication about the brake line, intake and temperature radiation. A brake disc that becomes too hot during a race massively loses its effectiveness and deceleration to the accustomed and optimal degree is no longer possible. If the temperature is too high, the brake pads start gassing on top of that.

The mechanical back-up design uses SPIROL® Disc Springs. Under normal circumstances, the hydraulic system holds a constant pressure on Disc Springs stacked in series. If pressure fails to be maintained, the stack of Disc Springs decompresses to actuate the braking mechanism. A compression spring or wave spring is not capable of providing the force required (in the space available) to actuate the brakes. The reliability of this safety system is dependent on the consistent performance of Disc Springs.
