Tungsten and tungsten alloy electrodes are used to produce the arc in high-intensity discharge lamps. Tungsten electrodes from Plansee excel due to their outstanding physical and mechanical properties: a high melting point, low vapor pressure, low thermal expansion, good thermal conductivity and a low electron work function. Plansee supplies anodes, cathodes and support rods. With special alloy additives, Plansee improves the high-temperature dimensional stability, electron work function, formability, machinability and thermal conductivity of the material. For cathodes, aluminium-potassium silicate (AKS) or lanthanum oxide-doped tungsten is available. A new addition to the range: WLZ, a tungsten material doped with lanthanum and zirconium oxide. WLZ is the non-radioactive alternative to thorium-doped materials.

The PowerSeal sets new benchmarks for high-speed encapsulation of chip modules: extremely compact and powerful, with a throughput of up to 40,000 modules/hour using two 16-fold dispensing heads and UV LED curing technology. UV LED curing saves production cost by lower energy consumption and long LED lifetime without aging. The curing is much faster compared to standard UV discharge lamps and the start-up time is reduced by providing full power directly after switching on. This enables high-speed production with significantly lower cost per module, resulting in an unsurpassed value for money. Alternatively, the machine can also be equipped with UV discharge lamps or heating units. Diverse nozzle plates are available for the different module tape pitches. Thermal curing resins such as black epoxy can be processed optionally. Reliable process stations and automated inline quality control ensure highest quality at a minimum of cost per module. The wavelength meters of the WS series accomplish wavelength measurements with highest accuracy. Both cw and pulsed lasers with narrow-band emission can be examined, monitored and even actively controlled. Various models of the WS series are available, covering UV to IR wavelength ranges (192 nm - 11 µm). Based on a rugged Fizeau interferometer setup without any moving components, the wavelength meters provide quasi unlimited lifetime. The spectrum analyzers LSA and HDSA allow for multi-line or broadband spectrum of light sources like cw and pulsed lasers, gas discharge lamps, super luminescence diodes, semiconductor laser diodes and LEDs.

For the detection of NO and H2S an EDL (electrodeless gas discharge lamp) is used. A combination of both technologies (UVRAS & UVLEDs) allows simultaneous gas analysis of NO, NO2 and SO2 in the lower ppm range, which is particularly important in flue gas analysis (CEM)2. In the EDL, N2 and O2 are converted to NO and produce selective UV radiation. With this radiation a cross sensitivity free NO measurement is made possible. This method is called UV resonance spectroscopy (UVRAS). Applications Exhaust gas monitoring (CEM)2 Laboratory area Biogas research Industrial gas analysis Engine test benches Portable gas analysis (PEMS)3 Features & Benefits Simultaneous NOx and SO2 analysis Temperature controlled up to 55°C Fast response time < 3 seconds Durable EDL (> 16000h) Flow-independent measurement 0-2L/min No influence of gas humidity No NOx converter required High accuracy Low power consumption Compact size
