The overmolding process is when a flexible material is molded onto a more rigid material called a substrate. If properly selected, the overmolded (flexible material) will form a strong bond with the substrate. Bonding agents are no longer required to achieve optimum bond between the substrate and overmold. 2K or 'two-shot' injection moulding consists of processing two different polymers (or two different colours of one polymer) into an end product by means of one injection moulding process. This technology enables several functions to be integrated into an injection moulded product. One of the major advantages of 2K injection moulding compared to overmoulding is that the polymer to be injected is still hot and has not shrunk yet. This virtually excludes the risk of burrs being formed on the second component. Another significant advantage is the cycle time gained, the constant process and the fact that manual insertion is not required, thus avoiding the risk of damaging the first component.

There are a variety of methods used to process plastic. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages and are better suited for specific applications. These methods include: injection molding, blow molding, thermoforming, transfer molding, reaction injection molding, compression molding, and extrusion.

Gas assist molding is used to hollow out thick sections of a part where coring is not an option and sink is not acceptable. Gas assist molding can be applied to almost any thermoplastic, and most conventional molding machines can be adapted for gas assist molding. One of HODA, UAB activity is the plastic and rubber injection molding, using compressed nitrogen gas. We also provide assembly and packaging services.

HDPE – high density polyethylene is defined by a density of greater or equal to 0.941 g/cm3. HDPE has a low degree of branching and thus stronger intermolecular forces and tensile strength. HDPE can be produced by chromium/silica catalysts, ziegler-natta catalysts or metallocene catalysts. The lack of branching is ensured by an appropriate choice of catalyst and reaction conditions. HDPE is used in products and packaging such as milk jugs, detergent bottles, margarine tubs, garbage containers and water pipes. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polyethylene high-density (PEHD) is a polyethylene thermoplastic made from petroleum. It takes 1.75 kilograms of petroleum (in terms of energy and raw materials) to make one kilogram of HDPE. HDPE is commonly recycled, and has the number “2” as its recycling symbol.

Polystyrene (PS) is an aromatic polymer, made from the aromatic monomer styrene, a liquid hydrocarbon that is commercially manufactured from petroleum by the chemical industry. Polystyrene is one of the most widely used kinds of plastic. Polystyrene is a thermoplastic substance, which is in solid (glassy) state at room temperature, but flows if heated above its glass transition temperature and becomes solid again when cooled. Pure solid polystyrene is a colorless, hard plastic with limited flexibility. It can be cast into molds with fine detail. Polystyrene (PS) can be transparent or can be made to take on various colors. The chemical makeup of polystyrene is a long chain hydrocarbon with every other carbon connected to a phenyl group.
