The SENSORMASTER 9163 covers a wide range of applications in which process values need to be measured, displayed, analyzed and transferred to higher-level control systems. Typical applications include measuring geometric values in production, for instance differential measurements, or testing material properties in the laboratory. The measured values can be transferred via USB, RS232 or analog output. Model 9180 supports force, pressure and torque sensors operating on the strain gauge principle, as well as the connection of position and angle sensors in potentiometer or DC/DC configuration. It also allows the measurement of process signals ± 1 V/ 5 V/ 10 V or 0 ...1 mA, 0(4) ... 20 mA. The current measured value is indicated on the 14 mm high LED main display, while a second display located directly below provides a reading of the peak value. The display is particularly suitable for highly accurate measurements due to the high accuracy of 0.1%. It is also possible to monitor up to 4 limit values and provide the results via relay or transistor outputs. Thus the process value display can be used for classification, process and control tasks. The current measured value is frozen on the display by activating an external HOLD signal. The TARE function is useful for balancing out previous loads for example.

Based on its specifications, this device can be used in various applications. It is especially suitable for resistance measurement on insulating materials such as e.g. cable insulations, foils, textiles, surfaces, insulating liquids,etc. With a test voltage of 45 V, 100 V, 250 V and 500 V the device fulfi ls most test specifi cations such as e.g. DIN 51953, 53482 and 54345. The guard switching allows single resistance measurements in a triangle wiring. This could be e.g. a two line cable with common shield or the measurement of insulating materials on a guardring measurement cell. The selection of the measurement range is done manually or automatically. Fast subsequent measurements can be realized by the internal limit value indicator. When the measured value exceeds the limit the limit value indicator switches and activates a potential-free relay output. The megohmmeter RESISTOMAT® model 24508 is the right instrument for its use in laboratory as well as in industrial applications.

RESISTOMAT® model 2408 megohmmeter has been especially developed to measure extremely high resistance values with a high degree of accuracy. This instrument has a specifi cation that makes it suitable for all common applications. The measurement voltages equal those given in the DIN test regulations (e.g. DIN 51953, DIN 53482, DIN 54345, DIN 57281 and DIN 57411) for measuring the electrical resistance value across fi lms, fl oor coverings, test equipment, cables, moldable materials, rubber, plastics, insulating oils and the like. The RESISTOMAT® model 2329 is particularly suitable for fast measurements of low resistances in automated processes. Up to 50 measurements per second can easily be performed. The device complies with the latest CE guidelines and is designed for laboratory use as well as heavy-duty industrial applications. A 2-fold and 4-fold comparator with switching outputs has been included for classifi cation and selection; this feature is particularly useful for serial tests. One special application involves the measurement of contact resistances (dry-circuit measurement); the load voltage in this case is limited to 20 mV in order to prevent fritting (DIN IEC 512). The RS232 (standard) and IEEE488, USB and Ethernet (option) computer interfaces allow the set-up of fully automatic testing stations. The PLC interface allows easy integration into your production process control.

Fast and accurate measurements of the smallest resistance values are possible with the milliohmmeter RESISTOMAT® model 2316. Due to the rugged aluminium injection moulding desktop housing with membrane keypad it is suitable for use in laboratory and industrial environment likewise. Wires and coils can be measured with temperature compensation. The temperature of the sample is measured with a Pt100 or pyrometer and the resistance is then corrected to the equivalent at e.g. 20 °C (adjustable) in the instrument. The RESISTOMAT® model 2320 is a universally applicable and easy to operate measurement device for low-ohmic resistances. The light and handy device in a stable IP54 plastic housing with membrane keypad is likewise suitable for use in service, laboratory or on the production floor. The power supply is done via built-in rechargeable battery packs or by standard batteries. If need be, the temperature of samples can be measured and the sample resistance is subsequently compensated to fit the value at 20°C. This applies for samples with resistances depending on the sample’s temperature. The temperature coefficients for copper and aluminium are included as standard. A third and fourth coefficient may be set individually for any given material to be measured. The traversable straddle gauges are used for offline measurement. They are placed onto the roll and moved manually, thereby measuring the form of the rolls from crown edge to crown edge. They are characterised by a high measurement point density of 1 mm and a high repetition accuracy of ± 2 µm. With the evaluation software optimised over decades together with our customers for this application, curves can be pivoted and superimposed, centered and smoothed. The scope of supply also includes a panel PC.

The gauges from the VSL Series measure the form, diameter, roundness and eccentricity of the rolls during the grinding process with very high precision. Form, radial run-out and eccentricity are measures with a precision of ± 1 µm. If an interface is available, they communicate online with the controller of the roll grinding machine and thus enable even more cost-effective use of the grinding machine. With the appropriate configuration, they measure the height and lateral alignment of the roll in the grinding machine before grinding, often enabling the set-up time to be significantly reduced. The BS78 is a high accuracy exposed linera encoder with an interferometric signal generation in transmitted light design. The scale has a graduation period of 0.55µm. The LASERSCALE operating principle generates a sinusoidal measuring signal with a signal period of 138nm. This has an extremely high signal quality with a very low noise component. This allows resolutions of up to 2.1 pm to be generated. Due to the extremely low interpolation error, the BS78 is perfectly suited for ultra precision machining, measurement and calibration applications.

The BL57 is a high-resolution, exposed linear encoder with interferometric operating principle in transmitted light design. The BL57 has a graduation period of 1.6µm and generates a sinusoidal signal period of 400nm due to the laserscale operating principle. This allows resolutions of up to 6.1pm. to be achieved. Due to the high response speed of up to 3m/s, it is perfectly suited for high-precision and fast X/Y stages.

The BL50H is a high resolution exposed linear encoder in reflective design. The BL50H has a grating period of 1.6µm and generates a signal period of 400nm with the Laserscale operating principle. The extremely small dimensions, made possible by the reflective design and large mounting tolerances, allow easy integration into X/Y stages and a wide variety of measurement applications. It provides a very high signal quality with low noise level and is suitable for resolutions up to 6pm at travel speeds up to 3m/s.

Within the thickness measurement instruments range is the Cygnus Mini ROV Mountable ut thickness gauge. This gauge is pressure tested to 500m and designed to be mounted onto small observation ROVs with or without a manipulator facility, allowing the operator to carry out thickness measurements in areas that have previously been unfeasible using large ROVs or divers. Supplied with CygLink software to display and log thickness measurements from the ROV metal thickness tester to a computer at the surface which can then be saved to a file and printed out. CygLink has two data logging facilities Quick Log for simple recording of thickness measurements and Structured mode with four templates available. The Cygnus Top Side Repeater (TSR) is available as an option and has the facility to display the thickness measurements remotely and overlay them on to a video signal. This allows the measurements to be superimposed on the ROV camera’s monitor screen.

The Cygnus 2+ metal thickness gauge has an endmounted rotatable display designed for rope access work, providing a safer environment when working at height. As with all Cygnus thickness measurement instruments, the Cygnus 2+ uses the multipleecho mode for measuring through thick coatings (up to 20 mm thick in Deep Coat mode). As well as this, the Cygnus 2+ thickness gauge also incorporates the singleecho mode for measurements on uncoated surfaces with heavy front face and/or backwall corrosion, and the echoecho mode for measurements on painted metals with heavy back wall corrosion and pitting using a variety of portable UTM probes.
