Individual filled gas springs are excluded from replacement. Gas springs are maintenance-free, self-contained systems that are filled with nitrogen under high pressure. For end-of-travel damping and lubrication, a defined amount of oil is also contained inside. The gas springs contain a nonreturn valve in a threaded pin on the pressurised pipe, which allows the pushing force to be lowered at a later time. Gas pressure springs in the sizes 04/12 and 06/15 must be stored and installed with the piston rod extending downwards. As of size 08/19, storage and installation in any orientation is possible. Keep in mind, however, that end-of-travel damping is effective only when the piston rod extends downwards. As a consequence of the physical properties when filling a gas spring, a tolerance range of ±5 % results for the rated pushing force. Gas springs are filled with nitrogen under high pressure and under no circumstances should they be opened or overloaded.

The Suvis GmbH also deals with the application of modern numerical methods for the lay out and optimisation of various separator types like cyclones. A typical application of these computation methods is the computer aided investigation of particle separation from gases in cyclones. The prediction of the separation efficiency allows the reliable optimisation of conventional cyclones and the development of completely novel high efficiency cyclones. With that, very often expensive filter units, wet cleaner, or costly electro filters can be replaced or completed. When applying numerical methods (CFD simulations) to cyclones one encounters the problem of strong curvature of the stream lines because of the resulting strong swirl flow and the abrupt change of flow direction towards the outlet tube. This means that the assumption of isotropic turbulence is not useful anymore.

Hydro cyclone units are applied in order to separate coarse and fine solid particles from liquids . These type of separators are particularly capable of separating sand, starch, and other finely distributed materials. With hydro cyclones it is possible to separate fine particles online during the process. Hydro cyclone units are used to separate, classify, and to thicken suspensions. Also, these units are used to purify ores and minerals. Also, in fibre technique and paper industry they are applied in purification processes to separate dirt. Hydro cyclones are frequently run in parallel mode. The lay out and design of hydro cyclones are performed empirically similar to the duct cyclones. In the lower flow region of a hydro cyclone an air swirl forms during the separation process, which is not substantially influencing the cyclone flow. Because of the large dimension of the cyclone, wall friction has much more influence on the flow.

The gas cyclone belongs to the mostly applied technical separators, because it has applicationwise some fundamental advantages. One of them is certainly the fact that its construction does not show any movable components. For the large variety of different kinds of dispersed (particulate) phases (for example dust particles, metal chips, wooden waste, liquid droplets) and different gas conditions (pressure, temperature) the lay out and computation of a cyclone is still a complex task. Analysing the gas quality in the gas network is essential to monitor technical specifications and ensure correct billing. The GasPro is a mobile gas sampler, with which cyclic sampling can be carried out easily and flexibly at any point from dry gas networks. The samples are collected in a sample cylinder in the GasPro and can then be analysed in a laboratory. The GasPro allows the separation of sampling and sample analysis and is therefore more cost effective and flexible than for example fixed installed gas chromatographs.

We offer you standardised complete systems for the measurement of volume & mass flows. We use measuring elements that have established themselves within previously built customer-specific test benches and convince with high measuring accuracy. We develop and manufacture Venturi tubes and nozzles as individual components or as VMF® complete systems. The VenturiMasterFlow® measuring system, VMF® for short, is used for the precise measurement of air or gas volume and mass flows of 100,000 m³/h. The core of the VMF® system is the FlowProcessor, a PC system with the corresponding data acquisition hardware. Venturi nozzles convince by a low remaining pressure loss and are suitable for flow measurement of gases with high temperatures. The software developed under LabVIEW is operated either via touch screen or with mouse and keyboard.

The test bench is designed for calibration with critically operated nozzles of domestic gas meters or others such as diaphragm gas meters, ultrasonic meters, thermoelectric gas meters. The test bench is specially designed for the calibration of domestic gas meters (bellows gas meters, ultrasonic meters, thermoelectric gas meters). The test bench is modular - 1x6 to 4x6 clamping positions for the gas meters can be combined. Due to the modular design 1 to 12 gas meters can be tested simultaneously. In parallel, up to twelve additional test pieces can be adapted, run in and leak tested. A magazine consisting of three critical nozzles is used as flow transmitter. Optionally, a nozzle drum with nine combinable nozzles can be used. This allows the generation of up to 512 different flow points with highest accuracy.

Over the last few years, we at EP-E have designed and introduced a range of primary standards designed for use in calibration laboratories. As a technology partner of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Braunschweig, Germany, our solutions are based on the highest standards. The EP gas bell plungers generate a volume flow which is traceable to the SI units length and time. The pistons are driven by a stepper motor via a spindle. In the initial state one piston is fully retracted and the other fully extended. The volume flow can be set with high precision via the piston cross section and the travel speed. At the end of the calibration process, both pistons are in the opposite position to the initial position.

The rotary gas meters GM4 and GM16 meet the highest demands for reliable and precise reference measurement of smallest quantities up to 0.01 m³/h. They operate according to the direct displacement principle (RPD - rotary positive displacement), in which two counter-rotating pistons convey a fixed volume from the inlet to the outlet of the gas meter with each full revolution. Due to the specially shaped pistons, absolutely pulsation-free operation can be achieved (patent pending). They achieve an excellent measuring accuracy of 0.5 % MW + 0.005 % EW. Both versions are suitable for operation up to 6 bar overpressure. With continuous, absolutely pulsation-free and highly precise flow measurement, the reference gas meters from Ehrler Prüftechnik are the gold standard in the field of small volume measurement. Maintenance and repair work on the natural gas network is generally carried out with the pipeline being gas-free, so the relevant pipe sections are isolated by installing valve assemblies and the gas in the isolated section is vented to atmosphere. By using our mobile compressors – individually or in highly efficient parallel operation – the network operator can transfer the gas from the isolated pipe section to another part of the system so it does not have to be vented to atmosphere. Connection points for the mobile compressors are available e.g. in the area of the main line valves or can generally be retrofitted. It makes economic sense to transfer the gas to another as this guarantees responsible handling of this primary energy source and makes a substantial contribution to protecting the environment. In order to protect pipelines from damage (e.g. during construction activities), they are regularly inspected on foot, from a vehicle or helicopter. Practical experience has shown, however, that these methods do not ensure continuous and comprehensive monitoring. PipeMon+® closes this gap, allowing appropriate measures to be taken immediately when a pipeline is suddenly damaged. OGE has developed a pipeline monitoring method based on the principle of cathodic protection (CP). When a cathodically protected pipeline is damaged by construction equipment (excavator, drill, rotary cultivator, etc.), the protective current distribution on the pipeline changes. Using appropriate sensors and special analysis methods, these events can be detected in real time.

With the development of CHARM®, Open Grid Europe is providing an efficient leakage control method for natural gas pipeline networks and thus an alternative to the labour intensive practice of conducting on-site inspections of the pipelines with gas detection devices.
